It rich in natural resources; boasting of a National Park - Mountain Zebra National Park -, two Game Reserves - Commando and Tslowana - two nature reserves, four private game reserves and game farms.
The area covers different vegetation biomes from the Nama Karoo in the west, to the Highland Grass in the east thus creating many habitants for a variety of animal species.
