STATEMENT ON WATER SERVICE PROVISION DURING ELECTRICITY OUTAGE IN KOMANI

CHDM has noted the electricity outage of Komani Town which began on Tuesday 12 June.

While we are in constant communication with Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality, we will in the meantime, run around the clock to ensure uninterrupted water service provision throughout the period.  CHDM is utilizing its backup generators to ensure water service provision that is continuous.  We however would like to caution customers that water pressure may be impacted though no water outage is anticipated.

CHDM has pulled all stops to ensure its readiness for any eventuality – we have stocked on diesel for our generators to ensure they run uninterrupted for the duration of the electricity outage, our water carts are on stand-by should the situation warrants as well as our loud hailing system should a need for urgent messaging arise.

Four heavy duty generators, in varied sizes, have been purchased intended to be used in our treatment plants as stand-by in the event of electricity outage in Komani area. We still encourage consumers to use our Customer Care line 0800100100 to report any water and sanitation related matters.

We will keep our community informed of any new developments.
