WATER TUESDAY-spring water sources

WATER TUESDAY-Today | CHDM led by Executive Mayor, Cllr Lusanda Sizani exploring spring water sources as part of leading solutions for water challenges in Intsika Yethu LM and across the district. CHDM Councillors and Municipal Manager also visited new water schemes that are soon to be handed over to the community whilst old water schemes in the area were given attention to ensure functionality.

Integrated programme for unemployed youth

The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality partnered with Chris Hani and the Southern Africa Institute For artisans (SAIFA) to launch a work integrated programme for unemployed youth. Today, the Executive Mayor, Cllr Madoda Papiyana welcomed 100 beneficiaries from across the district at the Council Chambers, Bells Road, Komani. This 24 months programme is funded by the National Skills Fund to enhance employment opportunities for all sectors while acquiring the necessary skills and competencies for the country’s youth.

Shova Kalula Bicycle Program

SHOVA KALULA BICYCLE PROGRAM | Three hundred and sixty three (363) needy learners received bicycles from the Department of Transport as part of learner programme and learners who walk long distances to school. The learners were identified from 5 schools in Intsika Yethu and Enoch Mgijima Local Municipalities of Chris Hani District.
CHDM Deputy Executive Mayor, Cllr Noncedo September and Council Speaker, Cllr Jongumzi Cengani joined the Deputy Minister of Transport, Hon Lisa Mangcu and Deputy Minister in Presidency, Hon Sisisi Tolashe & Eastern Cape MEC for Education, Hon Fundile Gade during the handover of these bicycles at Qamata Great Place in Cofimvaba.

Indigent Registration Programme day 1

A partnership between Enoch Mgijima LM and CHDM has led to a joint Free Basic Services Registration/Indigent Registration Programme that will be undertaken for the whole month of May. Today, 29 April, Ezibeleni Ward 4;5;6;7 and 8 are being registered to the indigent register of both Enoch Mgijima and Chris Hani at Ezibeleni Community Hall.
SASSA and SAPS are onsite assisting community members with affidavits and proof of social grants.
All member of the community are invited to register. Tomorrow, the programme will be at UNathi Mkefa Hall, EZibeleni, targeting Ward 3 & Ward 7.
