[IN PICTURES] Commemorating the life and legacy of Chris Hani in Sabalele, Cofimvaba. Chris Hani was assassinated in April 1993 under apartheid government. Apart from the national vision, the Eastern Cape government and Chris Hani District Municipality are committed in remembering Chris Hani in action through various service delivery legacy projects.

Remembering Our Hero

#HisLegacyLivesOn I The Deputy President, Hon Paul Mashatile, DSRAC Minister Gayton McKenzie,The Eastern Cape Premier, Hon Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, Deputy Executive Mayor, Cllr Noncedo September -Caba and the MMC, Cllr Thembisile Bobo have landed in Sabalele Village, Cofimvaba, the birthplace of Chris Thembisile Hani this morning.
Today marks 32 years since Chris Hani’s assassination, which took place in Boksburg in 1993.

#ChrisHaniMonth: Over 200 young people from all local municipalities gathered at Thobi Kula Indoor Sport Centre today to witness a Skills Development Programme Launch led by the CHDM Executive Mayor, Cllr Lusanda Sizani. The Skills Development Programme seeks to promote economic growth by equipping Young people with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to thrive in the workforce.
The Executive Mayor handed over tool boxes to 18 carpentry learners who are currently placed at the Komani and Frontier Hospitals on a three-year apprenticeship contract under the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA). CHDA has so far solicited funds from SETAs such as HGSETA, AGRISETA, HWSETA, and CETA to advance individual skill sets targeting products of local institutions of higher learning.

Gift of the Givers for their timely and generous donation

The Gift of the Givers once more came through for the victims of heavy rains across the district. This morning, Food Parcels, Sleeping Mats, and Blankets are being delivered to all affected municipalities. The district municipality has recorded 28 beneficiaries for Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality, 128 for Intsika Yethu Municipality, 15 for Emalahlenilm.ec, 89 for Dr AB Xuma Local Municipality, and 13 for Sakhisizwe Local Municipality.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Gift of the Givers for their timely and generous donation. The swift response and unwavering commitment to humanitarian services have brought comfort, hope, and dignity to our communities.

South African Red Cross Society Western Cape

All 28 victims of heavy rains from Ward 1, 15,18,20,21, and 22 of Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) received temporary relief material from the humanitarian organization, Red Cross yesterday.
The CHDM Disaster Management Teams delivered these items to the affected households. CHDM is grateful for the continued support demonstrated by the South African Red Cross Society Western Cape
EMLM Cllrs, MMC, Cllr Ralane and Ward 22, Cllr Duda said they are honoured to have received these items.
