IDDR celebrations

21 wards of Intsika Yethu Local Municipality were the recipients of equipment that will serve as risk reduction measures against disastrous fires. As part of the IDDR celebrations, CHDM Executive Mayor, Cllr Wongama Gela, along with Portfolio Head of Health and Community Services, Cllr Sinomtha Lali, handed over 15 fire beaters, 15 goggles and 15 gloves to each ward. In addition to a tree planting session, where the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment donated 16 trees, a newly-refurbished Ilinge Lethu Early Childhood Development Centre was open. Work done include fencing of the yard, construction of ablution facilities, wall crack filling and painting, tiling and installation of equipment such as a kitchen stove, television and swings for learning and entertainment.
