International Day for Disaster Reduction

This year, the district has been putting preventive measures in place, handing-over fire beaters, gloves and goggles to various wards across the district, to ensure preparedness enabling early action to minimize harm to people, assets, basic infrastructure and livelihoods in cases of veld fires. These efforts also seek to inculcate culture of risk reduction behaviour among communities through education and awareness campaigns.

Today, CHDM Executive Mayor, Cllr Wongama Gela, working together with Intsika Yethu LM Executive, will handover a newly revamped Early Childhood Development Centre, Ilinge Lethu, and as well, handover risk reduction equipment to 21 Wards of Intsika Yethu LM.
