World Environment Day at Indwe

Chris Hani District Municipality working together with Emalahleni Local Municipality held the World Environment Day at Indwe today under the theme: Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience. World Environment Day is celebrated annually on the 5th June to encourage, create awareness and solicit action for the protection of the environment.

Health and Community Services Portfolio Head, Cllr Malibongwe Fatyela joined by Emalahleni LM Mayor, Nontombizanele Koni encouraged communities and school’s involvement in raising awareness on climate change, waste management and environmental issues, as well as natural resource management in communities through a Cleaning Campaign and Tree Planting.
