CLEAN DRINKING WATER
CLEAN DRINKING WATER FOR THE COMMUNITIES OF INTSIKA YETHU AND DR AB XUMA LOCAL MUNICIPALITIES
The communities of Ward 13 and 19 in Dr AB Xuma Local Municipality, as well as Ward 3 and 7 in Intsika Yethu Municipality are set to benefit from multi-million rand water supply and reticulation projects scheduled to begin soon.
In a series of engagements held today, CHDM leadership (Cllr Bongeka Nobuntu, Cllr Thumeka Bikwana, Cllr Sinomtha Lali-Madubedube) led by the Deputy Executive Mayor, Cllr Noncedo September-Caba officially introduced the appointed contractors to the respective communities. This initiative is a vital infrastructure investment critical for addressing water access challenges across these areas.
Both local municipalities and their communities have warmly welcomed the projects, recognizing a wide-range of socio-economic benefits they bring, including job creation, skills development, and knowledge transfer.
To ensure transparency and smooth project implementation, Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) and Project Steering Committees (PSCs) have been established for each project. These structures will play a key role in maintaining community engagement and facilitating oversight, while also instilling a sense of ownership and security around the infrastructure.
