District Petition Cleansing Session

Chris Hani District Municipality, through the Office of the Speaker, is hosting a two-day District Petition Cleansing Session, led by the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs @Cogta Eastern Cape.
This important initiative focuses on strengthening petition management across the district and beyond. Key stakeholders in attendance include the Speakers’ Offices from CHDM local municipalities, Joe Gqabi and Amathole District Municipalities, the Office of the Premier, Department of Human Settlements, Home Affairs, and the National Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) Office.
The purpose of the session is to:
✅ Address untraceable and faceless petitions in the provincial petitions register
✅ Evaluate and close longstanding petitions
✅ Conduct Petition Age Analysis
Together, we’re working to ensure accountability, responsiveness, and effective governance at all levels.
