Ward 28 of the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality received school uniforms

Today, 106 learners from Nobuhle SPS, Nomonde Primary School, and Joe Slovo Senior Secondary School in Molteno, Ward 28 of the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality, received school uniforms during a handover event hosted at Joe Slovo S.S.S.
The event was graced by Cllr Thumeka Bikwana, MMC for Corporate Services, and Cllr Unathi Galada, EMLM MMC, who joined forces with the Provincial Department of Social Development, SASSA, the Department of Education, and Windfarm. Their collaborative efforts are part of a broader campaign aimed at changing the lives of learners in vulnerable communities.
Ward 28 is one of the areas identified across the province as one of the poverty-stricken and underprivileged, facing major socioeconomic challenges, including a high rate of youth unemployment and substance abuse. The school uniform initiative is one of the interventions intended to alleviate financial burdens for families, restore learners’ dignity, and encourage consistent school attendance.
