CONTRACTOR HANDOVER | CHDM is currently handing over a contractor for the refurbishment of Elliot Water Treatment Works to improve water supply service in Khowa, Sakhisizwe LM. This water treatment serves ward 1,2 and the portion of ward 3, also the refurbishment project will create temporary job opportunities for the locals.

Refurbishment of Tsojana Water Treatment Works

CONTACTOR HANDOVER | CHDM MMC for Infrastructure, Cllr Bongeka Nobuntu handed over a contractor for refurbishment of Tsojana Water Treatment Works in Intsika Yethu LM to improve water supply service in the area. The plant serves a total of 64 villages in 8 wards (1,5,10,13,14,15,16 & 21) and the project will create temporary job opportunities for the people of surrounding villages.

In session | An Agricultural Investment Forum is underway at the CHDM Council Chambers. Various commodities within the Agricultural sector (Vegetable production, Grain cropping, custom feeding/feed lots, Beef producers and wool growers) ; Mayors from Local Municipalities with CHDM , development agency , Corperative Development Centre and government departments , are in attendance.

Welcoming all stakeholders, Executive Mayor , Cllr Lusanda Sizani reminded farmers that regular sittings are necessary for all to get updated on commitments made in March 2024 during the launch of the forum, exchange of information that will make a dent on the economy of the district, discuss strategies that will result in coordinated plans which are imperative to attract investment in the sector to improve socio-econmic outlook of the district. ” CHDM has a potential of being a food basket for the country due to its Agricultural potential”, he said.

EC Provincial SALGA’s Municipal Finance and Fiscal Workshop

EC Provincial SALGA’s Municipal Finance and Fiscal Workshop Working Group is currently in session at Chris Hani District Municipality Council Chambers in Komani. This working group provides a platform for lobbying advocacy on local government finance policy issues. It allows member municipalities to assess and engage in municipal financial performance, peer learn from best practices, and formulate recommendations.

This session consists of Finance MMCs, and CFO’s from all 39 municipalities across the province. CHDM MMC for Finance, Cllr Sinomtha Lali-Madubedube, and the CFO, Mr. Christopher Mapeyi are in attendance.
